Military Exercise 14 - 31 August 2017

The general public is to be advised that a NZ Army Exercise will be conducted in the Ahaura area over the period 14 – 31 August 2017.

The exercise will involve personnel of 2/1 RNZIR, from Burnham Military Camp. The exercise will involve up to 100 personnel.

Training will involve soldiers conducting blank firing activities within the forested areas between Waipuna Station and Ahaura/Kopara Road over the period 14 – 26 August. Live firing will occur over the period 26 – 31 August. A headquarters element will be based out of the Ahaura Hall.

Pyrotechnic devices will be utilised over the full period.  Danger boards with information pertaining to the exercise will be at relevant points on 4x4 tracks and roads that intersect the exercise area including the live firing area.  These will warn the public of the live firing danger present if movement off these roads should occur.

The exercise will also involve the movement of troops and vehicles by day and night over the above period between Ahaura Hall and the exercise area.
