Military Exercise 22 May 2020 (Blank Firing in Selwyn, Burnham)

The general public is to be advised that a New Zealand Army Exercise will be conducted in the Selwyn riverbed area on the 22 May 2020.

The exercise will involve up to 20 personnel of 3rd Workshop Company from Burnham Military Camp. Training will involve soldiers carrying rifles and manoeuvring around the Selwyn riverbed in vehicles and foot.

Blank rounds and pyrotechnics will be used from 9am until 3pm on Friday 22 May. The exercise will also involve the movement of troops and vehicles by day.

The New Zealand Army takes fire risk seriously and will ensure fire mitigation is present.
