Previous Deployments

As an Army, we provide a credible and effective armed force to protect New Zealand and its interests. We must be, and are, prepared for combat.

Our Defence Force is New Zealand's sole provider of military know-how and equipment which New Zealand uses as a force for good in the world.

Whether acting alone, or as is more common, working with other government agencies or other nations' militaries, our purpose is to help others by undertaking a range of security and humanitarian tasks wherever and whenever they are needed.
